Hi, I’m Igor, born and raised in the Netherlands. I started my educational journey with a MSc in biology from Wageningen University. Interesting as it may be, the lack of relevance for society and humanity steered me in the direction of the healthcare professions. Chiropractic peaked my interest since it presented itself as non-invasive, non-pharmacological yet founded in a solid understanding of human physiology. I really got interested when I learned about a chiropractor in the USA waking people from coma, of course this was professor Carrick. My decision was made and in 2005 I graduated from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic (UK) and received my DACNB in 2007. Learning never stops so I accumulated fellowships in the realm of functional neurology in the years after. Meanwhile Thomas van den Hof and I founded Chiropractie Harderwijk in 2008 and the grew to a multidisciplinary clinic that combines chiropractic and functional neurology. With 4 chiropractors, 2 exercise therapists and a breath coach we serve patients from all over the country and we do our best to regularly present our outcomes at international chiropractic and medical conferences . Functional neurology to me is a way of understanding the person in front of me whilst providing me with tools and insights that can be of crucial importance in those that suffer from dysfunctions in their nervous system. It blends physiology, evolution, psychology, cognitive and affective neuroscience with motor skills and sensory integration. What is there not to love about it? It assures me of a interesting road of live long learning ahead of me. Something new every day.
