Transcription: – Hello, my name is Dr. Jessica Lofgren. Today we have the pleasure of being joined by Dr Joshua Lander. Dr. Lander, how are you doing today? – Doing great, thank you for having me. – Of course. So we are on here today cause we are talking about the International Symposium on Clinical Neuroscience happening this may in Orlando, Florida. You’re going to be there and you’re going to be speaking this year, and we’re excited to have you there. – Great I really look forward to this. – Great, so I have done some research on you and I can say it’s quite an impressive resume that you have going. So you’re been in private practice for 18 years in Connecticut. You’re a chiropractor, exercise scientist, neurology diplomate, certified strength and conditioning coach, and you’re also an adjunct professor in physical therapy and human movement. So all of this, I mean it speaks for itself, really impressive stuff you’re doing. – Well thank you yeah. Obviously my main role is clinician. Patient care comes first but, yes I do teach neuro control of movement course at a local university in the physical therapy human movement department, as well as, as you said, I’ve been a diplomate since 2006. So that is also a major part of the practice obviously. – Really impressive stuff. So that brings me into my next question, what topic are you speaking about at this year’s International Symposium and why did you pick that topic? – OK so my topic is less clinical and more on the performance side. So I’m gonna be speaking on the neural substrates of pain and fatigue and performance in the athletic population, specifically, more focused on the endurance and combat sports. So we’re gonna be speaking on basically, what are the underlying factors or what questions do we really wanna answer as far as how athletes perceive fatigue, perceive pain? Is it different than the normal population? Are there genetic influences? Are there environmental influences of course? Are there condition influence? So these are the questions that we’re gonna venture into to asking as far as what the current evidence says. – Well this all sounds very fascinating. I’m so excited to hear more about this, especially that human performance side. Anything sports performance, human performance is definitely something I’m really excited about. So if you want to hear more of Dr Lander’s talk at this year’s Symposium, make sure you check out the information on our website, ISCN2019.com Dr Lander, thank you so much for joining us today and I look forward to seeing you in May! – Great, I look forward to seeing everyone at the end of May, so see you then.
