Human Performance Program

The Carrick Institute Human Performance (CIHP) program gives you the skills to unlock athletic excellence in your clients and athletes. Apply modern exercise physiology and learn a model  to understand, assess and train your athletes to reach peak capabilities.

This Program has been designed to allow fitness trainers, physical therapists, students of exercise science, performance coaches, and physicians to obtain mastery in physical performance optimization, exercise prescription and planning, nutritional strategies, sports science and movement kinematics.

Optimizing human performance involves mastering the intricate function and interconnectedness of all the systems in the body. The Carrick Institute Human Performance Program emphasizes a deep understanding of the musculoskeletal system, cardiovascular system, the brain and nervous system, and how energy is derived from the macronutrients you consume and how different nutritional strategies affect form and function. You will have advanced knowledge and know-how in the field of human performance optimization specifically pertaining to the development and retention of strength, power and neuro-biomechanic movement skills, cardiovascular enhancement, neuro-nutritional strategies and brain-based solutions for accurate prediction of the athletic environment.

This program is designed to raise the bar in the Strength & Conditioning human performance and fitness industry.

The Carrick Institute Human Performance (CIHP) program steps away from the single-factor thinking and application that is prevalent in the industry and instead, introduces a modern multi-factorial and integrated model for optimizing human function and performance.

The CIHP program is about unlocking the full human potential using a brain-based neurological approach to integrating all the working systems within the body. The CIHP bridges the gap between neurology and biomechanics for structural strength, power, endurance, and health and it utilizes most recent knowledge about the cardiovascular and pulmonary systems to improve the efficiency of the aerobic and anaerobic energy systems in multiple contextual scenario settings. The CIHP offers neuro-metabolic and nutritional strategies enabling the fitness professional to cut through the clutter and misinformation currently affecting millions of people in a 60-billion-dollar-a-year industry. Seen through a neurological lens, the key to accelerated optimization of human performance is embedded in the proper understanding of human systems integration. All systems in the body have both “effector “and “affecter” roles to uphold homeostasis and ensure survival which is 1st priority. However, performance lies at the opposite end of the spectrum, thus effectors and affecters may not be ideally primed for performance. For instance, neurology may affect the ability to display strength or power, or it may affect your ability to endure prolonged cardiovascular work. Conversely, the health and function of the heart and circulatory system plays a significant role in brain function. Similarly, nutrition and endocrinology greatly affect both cardiovascular and musculoskeletal function and performance. Indeed, a multidimensional model for human performance is more encompassing than any single factor strategy.

Nothing in the body is simple, and the interaction between systems is some of the most complex to address.

The CIHP simplifies human performance as much as scientifically possible but no simpler than that While simple single-factor models are often easily comprehended they force assumptions and guesswork. The CIHP program is designed to limit assumptions as they are often based on a certain belief system. Belief systems are based on perception and interpretation of input and noise from your surroundings and the interactions that occur. Unfortunately, they are often, biased. By applying the most recent cutting-edge scientific research and bridging the gap to an efficient application, the biases are circumvented, and the desired outcome is created in the most effective and direct manner.

“The CIHP bridges the gap between neurology and biomechanics for structural strength, power, endurance, and health and it utilizes most recent knowledge about the cardiovascular and pulmonary systems to improve the efficiency of the aerobic and anaerobic energy systems in multiple contextual scenario settings.”

Course Curriculum

In this module learn how to develop strength, power and how the brain affects biomechanics.

Imagine having the gift to be able to assess an athlete and know exactly how to unlock more strength and power out of their performance. Better yet, imagine how the game changes when you know what your athlete actually needs, is it strength or power?  What if you can see the interplay between neurology and sports biomechanics, being able to create strategies that can often yield instantaneous results for your athlete?

In this module, learn state of the art strategies to assess an athlete’s current strength and power capability, and then create a customized approach to maximize their potential. Create brain-based applications that increase an athlete’s biomechanical efficiency to yield blazing fast results. What the current research says about muscle strength and power optimization and take advantage of the in-the-trenches tested best practice models to elevate your client’s potential.

More powerful. Increased flexibility. Faster reaction time. Increase sports vision capability. Instant changes in stability. Decreases in pain perception.  All of it is possible.. so can culminates in what the pros call a “flow state.”  Where your opponents seem to be in slow motion and you are 2 steps ahead.

Want to tap into the power of flow state?  Dr. Garcia and Dr. Clark will show you the way.
